The Castle Tavern is a traditional public house located in the very heart of the beautiful cobbled market place of Richmond situated in gorgeous Yorkshire Dales.We are a stone's throw from Richmond's magnificent Norman Castle and it is a short walk to the spectacular River Swale.The Castle Tavern has recently undergone a total refurbishment and is under the new management of Matthew Spencer and Lisa Potts.
This grade II listed pub is set on Richmond's charming cobbled marketplace, at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. The bar serves cask ales and a traditional menu, whilst the modern rooms have free Wi-Fi.
Ancient Richmond Castle and the beautiful Richmond Falls are all within 5 minutes' walk of The Castle Tavern. The borders of the scenic Yorkshire Dales National Park are just 1 mile's walk away.
Equipped with a flat-screen TV, free tea and coffee, each room at The Castle also has a tiled private bathroom.
With original beams overhead, the pub offers a range of meals including a variety of home-made pies. The bar stocks a selection of beers and wines, and also holds live evening entertainment and quizzes.
From North - Exit A1 at Scotch Corner then follow the signs to Richmond (A6108). Once you have entered Richmond continue on the road to a roundabout then take the first exit (straight ahead), then go straight through a set of traffic lights. You will come to a second roundabout, take the first exit and then take the first road on the right, which will take you into the market place of Richmond. You will see The Castle Tavern to the right.From the South - Exit A1(m) at junction A6136 signposted Catterick and Richmond. At the T junction turn right. At the next junction turn left entering Catterick Village. Continue on this road leaving Catterick Village. Follow the road, turning the corner at Catterick Bridge Hotel, then take the first left B6271 signposted to Richmond. Follow the road through Brompton on Swale and onto Richmond. Once you have entered Richmond continue on B6271 until you reach a T junction then turn left. Follow the road through a set of traffic lights.You will come to a roundabout, take the first exit and then take the first road on the right, which will take you into the market place of Richmond. You will see The Castle Tavern to the right.
